However, if you enrolled prior to October 1, 2015, you must send Altus Dental a letter asking your coverage to be canceled.

For Delta Dental, if you enrolled after December 1, 2014, you can simply deactivate your dental policy online, but if you enrolled before this date, you must request that your coverage be canceled by sending a request to Delta Dental.

How soon can I re-join the plan after I’ve canceled my coverage?

If you canceled your coverage, you can re-apply for coverage 12 months after the date that your coverage ended. New waiting periods will apply when you re-join.

Are there any waiting periods to receive coverage for services?

Yes, there is a 6 or 12-month waiting period for some services. Minor services often have a 6 month waiting period, while restorative services have a waiting period of 12 months.

If I choose to drop my dental coverage during the year, will I get a refund?

If you cancel your coverage (“terminate”), you will not receive a refund of your premiums. Your coverage will end on the last day of the current month or quarter, depending on the payment schedule you chose when you enrolled.
